PATENT PENDING
Q

Leaving the Dock: When you can’t back out cleanly

Leaving the Dock
A

Situation
Leaving is sometimes harder than docking — especially with crosswind on the bow.

Typical problems

  • Reverse doesn’t “bite”
  • Stern swings, bow pins toward the dock
  • Not enough room to recover

What works

  • Use a spring line to control bow angle
  • Commit to a clear plan (don’t half-commit)
  • Reset early if alignment is wrong
