From Navigator to Skipper — Why I built The bowrex

I graduated in 1978 from Korea Maritime & Ocean University . After decades in merchant and offshore operations, I still live on the water — as an active skipper.

I’m a proud member of Cedar Island Yacht Club . The bowrex was born from real docking — the kind where wind, current, and tight fairways leave no room for theory.

The bowrex is a complete portable docking-assist system. It’s built to give a sailboat reliable bow control during low-speed maneuvers using short bursts. The system includes the full working set — motor, ESC, propeller, and remote control — assembled and verified as one unit.

The bowrex housing is the system body — the structure that keeps everything aligned, protected, and stable against real water conditions during docking. What matters most is not theory, but whether the unit stays predictable when you actually need it.

I’ve lived in Canada for 30 years. Our three children grew up through the Navy League and swim clubs, and today our eight grandchildren stay active in swimming, sailing clubs, gyms, and Taekwondo. I’m proud our family culture stays close to the water — and to discipline.

Sailing Life

I’m still sailing today. Real conditions keep refining the system — The bowrex is shaped by practical skipper life, not showroom assumptions.

Sailing Racing

Racing reinforces precision, timing, and calm decision-making — the same mindset behind reliable docking control.
